Exploration on the “3+2+3” training mode of eight-year program of clinical medicine in Tsinghua University

Abstract: Since 2009, a “3+2+3” mode has been implemented in the eight-year medical education program in the School of Medicine, Tsinghua University,to strengthen the capacity building of scientific research by medical students in order to promote the combination of medical research and clinical practice in their occupational development in future. This paper introduces the performance of “3+2+3” training mode and its effect. The results show that the “3+2+3” training mode is conducive to the cultivation of physician scientists, the overall improvement of students' knowledge, capacity, and professional diathesis, and provides an effective pathway to promote the cultivation of compound and innovative excellent medical talents through the eight-year program of clinical medicine.
