Design and implementation effect of curriculum-based political and virtuous awareness for clinical anesthesiology course

Abstract: Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China emphasizes the need to strengthen medical ethics education and cultivate the spirit of being a doctor. This article on application of curriculum-based political and virtuous awareness in clinical anesthesiology course was carried out among undergraduates majoring in anesthesia enrolled in 2017 and 2018 at Central South University. It elaborated on the design and implementation of political and virtuous awareness education in clinical anesthesiology course from six aspects: course characteristics, course objectives, political and virtuous elements, teaching staff, teaching methods, and practical teaching. The effectiveness was evaluated using a questionnaire. The results showed that among the 111 students surveyed, 104 (93.7%) of them expressed their approval of the political and virtuous awareness education in the course, while 99(89.2%) expressed satisfaction. Furthermore, 97(87.4%) expressed satisfaction with the clinical cases incorporated as political and virtuous awareness elements, and 98(88.3%) expressed satisfaction with the scenario simulation teaching method. It can be seen that students were generally satisfied with the political and virtuous awareness education in clinical anesthesiology course, which can be further promoted.
