    The practice and exploration on teaching laboratory construction of medical metrology

    Aiming at the weakness of experimental teaching in the course of medical metrology, and improving the skill of medical metrology for students majoring in biomedical engineering, Air Force Military Medical University has demonstrated and built a special “medical metrology laboratory” for teaching. This paper mainly introduces the exploration and the construction of medical metrology teaching laboratory, including the construction principle, structure design, equipment configuration, condition construction, laboratory management and experimental training, in order to provide reference and help for the future development of medical metrology teaching laboratory construction in colleges and universities.

    Application of case experience method in the teaching of postgraduates' communication skill

    Objective To study the application effect of the “case experience” model in improving the adaptability and communication ability of medical graduate students. Methods A total of 90 professional postgraduate students who were internships in the surgical system of our hospital from April to September 2018 were selected as subjects. There were 45 cases for the experimental group and the control group respectively. The students in the experimental group self-directed and acted according to the medical conflict cases, experiencing the situation, and discussing the cause of the accident or dispute, and were consulted by the experts of the medical department. The control group directly studied the case text material. Questionnaires were used to analyze and compare the teaching effects of the two groups of students. Results Compared with the control group, there was a significant difference in the way the students in the experimental group chose to deal with physiotherapy conflicts:exercise forbearance[15.6%(7/45)vs 48.9%(22/45)], seek help[77.8%(35/45) vs 24.4%(11/45)],face to face[6.7%(3/45) vs 26.7%(12/45)],(P=0.024).84.4%(38/45)experimental group studentshad got a more reasonable treatment. Conclusions The “case experience” model allows students to more intuitively understand the causes of medical malpractices or disputes, and learn the methods and techniques of treatment to enhance the conflicts dealing and communication skills of medical graduate students.

    The application of virtual cases in clinical diagnosis and treatment combined with PBL in diagnostic experiments teaching

    Objective To explore the effects of virtual cases in clinical diagnosis and treatment combined with PBL in diagnostic experiments teaching. Methods From March to July in 2018, totally 97 students from grade 2016,five years undergraduate clinical medicine in Jining Medical University were randomly selected and divided into the experimental group (48 students) and control group (49 students).The experimental group adopted virtual cases in clinical diagnosis and treatment combined with PBL teaching method , while the control group received traditional teaching methods.At the end of experimental class,the learning outcomes of students in the two groups was valued by questionnaire survey and examinations. Results The results of basic knowledge of diagnostics, case analysis and theoretical assessment in the experimental group were (66.7 ± 6.45), (14.3 ± 1.75) and (80.9 ± 7.36) respectively, which were better than those in the control group (62.3 ± 8.42), (13.2 ± 2.28) and (75.5 ± 9.31). The differences were statistically significant The results of questionnaire showed that compared with the control group, the students in the experimental group increased their interest in learning [39(81.2) vs 26(53.1)], their ability to collect medical history [44 (91.7) vs 32(65.3)], their communication and expression ability [40(83.3) vs 29(59.2)], their diagnostic analysis ability [38 (79.2) vs 24 (49.0)], their diagnostic thinking ability [41(85.4) vs 28(57.1)] and their satisfaction with the teaching mode [44(91.7) vs 28(57.1)], the difference was statistically significant (all P<0.05). Conclusions The application of virtual cases in clinical diagnosis and treatment combined with PBL was effective and feasible in diagnostic experiments teaching. It can improve the learning outcomes, so is better than the traditional teaching mode.

    Application of medical ethics drama in the teaching of ideological and moral cultivation and the legal basis

    Objective To determine the effectiveness of medical ethics drama in the teaching of ideological and moral cultivation and the legal basis. Methods A simple random sampling method is used to collect 480 students of 5-year clinical medicine from Fujian Medical University in May 2019, through a self-made questionnaire to investigate the student's evaluation on the education outcome of medical ethics drama instruction. The questionnaire including 4 parts: participants' demographic characteristics, study condition, evaluation on medical ethics drama instruction and its suggestion. Results The overall score of the learning outcome evaluation on medical ethics drama is (40.86±7.09). Male students' value recognition on medical ethics drama is higher than female students [(15.87±3.45) vs (16.46±2.89),t=-2.015,P=0.044]. Students with cadre experience get higher score on participation [(16.79±2.91) vs (16.07±2.92)], innovative thinking [(8.26±1.67) vs (7.85±1.61)]and overall evaluation on medical ethics drama [(41.38±7.11) vs (39.85±6.95)] than those without cadre experience, the difference is statistically significant (all P<0.05). Multiple linear regression analysis shows that the degree of drama participation both and out of class, clarity of learning targets, role-playing investment are the influencing factors toward the evaluation of medical ethics drama. Conclusions The results demonstrate that medical ethics drama instruction has a good education effectiveness.

    Literature analysis of teaching method reform in medical nursing baccalaureate program in China

    Objective To evaluate the effectiveness of different teaching methods of medical nursing in nursing baccalaureate program. Methods We searched papers published from January 2000 to December 2018 in Chinese Biomedical Literature Database, Wanfang Database, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, and China Science and Technology Journal Database on March 1, 2019. Studies were eligible according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The methodological quality of included studies was assessed according to the Cochrane Handbook for Systematic Reviews of Interventions 5.1.0 by two reviewers independently. The meta-analysis was conducted by Review Manager 5.3 software. Results Thirty-nine studies were included in this study and the quality all rated B. They are summarized as case-based learning teaching method of cooperative learning, situational simulative teaching method, problem-based learning teaching method, Internet-based teaching method, multiple teaching method and others, with 11 studies, 8 studies, 5 studies, 5 studies,3 studies and 7 studies, respectively. Compared with the control group, teaching reform methods have achieved a certain teaching effect. However, there have some defects in the study design about group allocation, implement method and baseline comparison. Conclusions There are diverse teaching methods in Medical Nursing, these teaching methods have certain advantages compared with traditional methods, and further research needed to be more rigorous in the teaching design.

    In the process of teaching reform, the application of new methods and new models has a significant impact on learners' training. With the development of “internet +” thinking, the possibility of teaching innovation is greatly increased based on network and multimedia technology. Under this circumstance, the “Flipped classroom” has been rapidly introduced into the teaching practice of various levels and disciplines in China. The research on the connotation understanding, application reflection and Enlightenment of the Flipped classroom has become a hot topic in the educational circles. This paper explores the connotation, advantages and disadvantages of Flipped classroom, and through observation and practice in teaching, combined with the particularity of traditional Chinese medicine professional education, ponders on the transformation from classic teaching mode to new online classroom mode, expecting to be helpful tofaculty and educational theoretical researchers.

    Application of an online case-based learning system for prosthodontics

    Objective To explore the teaching effects of an online case-based learning (CBL) system for prosthodontics. Methods 25 graduate students in clinical practice at the Department of Prosthodontics, Peking University School of Stomatology during 2019 participated in an online CBL system for prosthodontics for one week. All candidates had received learning training using traditional case-based learning system before the online training. After the study, a questionnaire survey including Likert scale was conducted for graduate students. The convenience of using, the ability to promote clinical thinking, and the ability to increase clinical experience were evaluated between traditional CBL system and the online CBL system for prosthodontics using the paired t test. The questionnaire was conducted anonymously. Results Compared with traditional CBL system, the online CBL system for prosthodontics has better convenience[(4.20±0.82)vs(3.80±0.41),P=0.01] There is no significant difference in improvement thinking ability [(4.06±0.89)vs(3.84±0.37),P=0.03]. It can better improve clinical ability of postgraduates [(4.00±0.82)vs(3.76±0.44),P=0.13]. More than 72.0% (18/25) of candidates accepted and were willing to continue to use the online CBL system, and 40.0% (10/25) of candidates are willing to use the online CBL system by using sporadic time. Conclusions The online CBL system for prosthodontics is a convenient way for learning with good practicality, which is accepted by most candidates.

    Immersive virtual reality technology can be used for simulation operation of instruments and virtual warnings of accidents in pharmaceutical experiments. It offers many benefits such as materializing abstract concepts and providing human-machine interaction. Deep integration of immersive virtual reality technology and pharmaceutical experimental teaching reflects the application of science & technology and information in the section of higher medical education. This paper summarizes the drawbacks and difficulties in traditional pharmaceutical experimental teaching, elaborating on the specific application of immersive virtual reality technology in pharmaceutical experimental teaching, the challenges faced in the application and the corresponding countermeasures. The paper also looks forward to the application prospect of immersive virtual reality technology with the aim of improving the effectiveness of pharmaceutical experimental teaching in medical colleges as well as cultivating the practical abilities and innovative spirit of pharmaceutical talents.

    Research on the learning curve of breast imaging reporting and data system for ultrasound

    Objective To investigate the minimal and essential practice for learning breast imaging reporting and data system (BI-RADS ) for ultrasound, investigate the regular pattern of its learning, so as to provide reference for clinical training and evaluation. Methods Eight first-year residents, ten second-year residents and ten refresher doctors were trained for BI-RADS for ultrasound using the non-randomized experimental studies from October 2017 to October 2018. One hundred breast tumors were randomly divided into 5 groups with 20 cases in each group. Scores were compared among the 5 groups according to the results of chief physicians and the learning curve of was analyzed. Results The learning curve for the three categories of physicians increased significantly from the second time, while the trend of the second time to the fifth time was relatively stable. There were statistically significant differences in the diagnostic scores between the first time and second time for first-year residents, second-year residents and refresher doctors [(28.8±16.9) vs (50.0±9.3), (31.5±7.5) vs (53.5±6.7), (50.5±8.0) vs (62.0±13.4); all P<0.05]. Conclusions Residents and refresher physicians may master the BI-RADS dictionary after the theoretical training of BI-RADS dictionary and the reading training of about 40 cases.

    Application of the method of disease spectrum-based in dermatology teaching

    Objective To explore the effect of using disease spectrum in dermatology education. Methods The disease spectrum-based teaching and the traditional teaching method were utilized to 100 undergraduate students enrolled in 2013 and 2014 and 124 postgraduate students and 50 doctoral students enrolled in 2016 majoring in clinical medicine at Shanghai Medical College of Fudan University from September to December 2017. A self-made related questionnaire was designed and distributed to these students. Then we analyzed the problems existing in the traditional method and compared the difference in the teaching effect between the disease spectrum-based teaching and the traditional one. Moreover, the suggestions for applying the teaching method of disease spectrum were also proposed by students. Results Approximately 62.0% (170/274) of the students believe that there are too many kinds of dermatoses while only a few of them were taught in the traditional method. Therefore, it is a great challenge for students or junior doctors to diagnose some dermatosis when facing a large variety of skin eruptions in clinical practice. Nearly 69.3% (190/274) of students were not familiar with the disease spectrum dermatology. Compared with the traditional teaching method, it is significantly more effective to memorize the dermatology knowledge by the disease spectrum-based method [(4.89±1.84) vs (6.75±1.75), P<0.01], and more helpful to comprehend the knowledge [(5.19± 1.99) vs (6.96±1.76), P<0.01] and to carry out clinical practice [(5.21±1.99) vs (6.89±1.88), P<0.01]. As high as 76.3% (209/274) of students believe that the method of disease spectrum has advantages in helping students to learn knowledge macroscopically and master more diseases. Conclusions The teaching efficiency of dermatology education can be improved via the disease spectrum-based method.

    A perfect teaching system is the cornerstone for a non-affiliated hospital to undertake the teaching tasks of medical universities and to meet the requirements of higher medical education. The complete teaching management system, high-quality teaching operation system and effective teaching supervision system are the three keys to building and improving the teaching system. As a non-affiliated hospital, Henan Provincial People's Hospital explored and improved the teaching system from the above three aspects, and has achieved some results.

    Influence of academic degree on the result of clinical skill completion examination of standardized training for surgical residents

    Objective To analyze the influence of different academic qualifications on the results of standardized training graduation exam of surgical residents, and to put forward corresponding suggestions for formulating training plans for surgical residents. Methods From 2014 to 2016, 1 387 surgical residents in Beijing were selected as the subjects for the study, and the related factors were analyzed retrospectively. According to the highest academic qualifications obtained by the candidates in the examination, the candidates are divided into bachelor group, master group and doctor group. Using the methods of difference analysis, chi-square test and logistic regression analysis, the scores of different modules of the 7-station and the passing rates of the three groups of candidates in clinical skill examination are compared. Results Among 1 387 candidates, 540 were in the bachelor group, 460 were in the master group and 387 were in the doctor group. There was a significant difference about passing rate among bachelor group 63.9% (345/540) , master group 74.2% (341/460) and doctor group 75.7% (293/387) (P < 0.01). Among them, the pass rate of master and doctor candidates was higher than that of bachelor candidates, and the difference were statistically significant (All P < 0.01). There was no significant difference in the pass rate between the candidates with master and doctor degree (P>0.05). Multivariate ANOVA analysis showed that among bachelor group, master group and doctor group, the scores of assistant examinations [(73.90±8.25) vs (75.76±8.86) vs (77.26±8.25)], medical documents [(69.71±22.85) vs (66.86±23.19) vs (72.17±23.40)], case analysis [(83.82±10.18) vs (83.43±8.14) vs (85.18±7.84)], humanistic communication [(87.62±8.05) vs (87.86±23.19) vs (72.17±23.40)] have significant differences (All P < 0.01), There were no significant differences in the scores of the medical record writing [(84.51±9.17) vs (85.09±7.97) vs (85.08±8.76)] and surgical operation modules [(87.08±9.04) vs (85.96±7.81) vs (86.37±7.75) ](P > 0.05). Conclusions The standardized training programs of surgical residents with different degrees should be different. In terms of training design, doctor degree students should mainly fill in the shortcomings such as surgical operation, and the training period of rotation can be reduced or exempted. The rotation period for master degree students should not be reduced, however, their traning plan should focus more on filling in the shortcomings. Bachelor degree students should conduct systematic clinical training in accordance with the training program.

    As an important part of clinical medicine, the content and process of the standardized residents training of radiology has its own characteristics. In this paper, the assessment procedures for clinical skills of standardized residents training of radiology in Liaoning Province, 2019, were retrospectively analyzed, including examiner settings, specific testing mode, contents of examination, and analysis of testing results, in order to provide more reasonable recommendations for the future assessments.

    Research progress of the textbooks of basic courses of traditional Chinese medicine in colleges and universities of traditional Chinese medicine

    To understand the current situation and problems of the textbooks for Chinese medicine basic courses in colleges and universities of traditional Chinese medicine, and to provide some reference for the improvement and development of Chinese medicine education, related research articles since 2001 were collected and analysed. As the results, there are three main aspects of current research progress: the research of textbook content, the research of the design of textbook structure, the research of the orientation of textbook and textbook system. Among them, there are many studies related to textbook content, and the study content is also rich. But the research on the design of textbook structure, orientation and textbook system is limited and weak. As for each course, there are more studies on the textbooks of Foundations of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Diagnostics of Traditional Chinese Medicine, while less on the textbooks of Chinese Medicine and Formula of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

    Evaluation of the different types of residents' professional ethics and communicating and cooperative capacity in the perspective of nurses

    Objective To collect the nurses' evaluation to the professional ethics, communicating and cooperative capacity of residents from different sources in a residency institution, and to provide reference for achieving a quality homogenization. Methods Questionnaire survey was used. From April 2018 to April 2019, assessment of the professional ethics and communicating and cooperative capacity for 329 residents were conducted by 96 administrative nurses with “Digital Residence Training” APP in a residency institution. Results The proportions of the 3 indicators, “be compassionate and respect reasonable requirements of patients and their families” “be willing to listen and answer patient's questions using easy language” “dress in line with professional standards and neatly”, reflecting the professional ethics of these residents, ranked as “excellent” were 79.2%(889/1 122), 78.0%(875/1 122), and 83.9%(941/1 122), while the proportions of the 5 indicators, “respect nurse team and communicate effectively” “medical orders and medical documents are clear” “can be found when needed, respond timely to nurses report about patient's condition” “seek help timely from superior doctors and colleagues when needed” “inform nurses about the treatment and discharge plan of patients in time”, reflecting communicating and cooperative capacity, rated as “excellent” were 78.2%(877/1 122), 71.7%(804/1 122), 73.9%(829/1 122), 77.9%(874/1 122), and 71.7%(805/1 122) respectively. There was no statistically significantin scores of the professional ethics and communicating and cooperative capacity among the residents from other hospitals and graduate student, eight-year medical students and staff (P>0.05). Conclusions The professional ethics, communicating and cooperative capacity of residents were better as a whole. The professional ethics and communicating and cooperative capacity, which were homogeneous among residency from different sources.

    Objective To analyze the pediatric residents' competencies aiming at providing references for improving the quality of pediatric resident training and remodeling post-graduate education. Methods One hundred and eighty-four pediatric residents from Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine Affiliated Hospital participated in this cross-section investigation from December 2018 to February 2019. Using the cognitive questionnaire of pediatric residents' post competency to investigate the resident. Results Up to 45.7%(84/184)of respondents failed to define the competency. Within the top 11 competencies pediatric residents ranked, there was only one item “effective use of communication skills” in communication ability, and its importance score (4.67 ± 0.63), and there was no entry in the medical humanities literacy ranking in the top 11. Conclusions The awareness rate of resident positions is not high. In the standardized training of residents, the cultivation of medical humanities and communication skills were weak. Staged and hierarchical pediatric resident competency evaluation criteria should be developed.

    Epidemiology teaching effect analysis for international students of clinical medicine

    Objective To explore the effect and potential problems of the traditional teaching mode on epidemiology English course for Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery students and attempt to propose the targeted recommendations and solutions. Methods To comprehend the satisfaction and recognition of the students about new teaching methods and the teaching effect based on the traditional teaching mode during the teaching practice of Epidemiology in English among MBBS students in Tongji University. Results As much as 16.7% of the students were not satisfied with the traditional teaching method, and thought the classroom atmosphere was monotonous. About 10.0% of the MBBS students were not satisfied with the teachers, and they thought that the teachers usually paid attention to their own lectures and ignored the students' responses in the class. Meanwhile,93.3% of the students had interest in problem-based learning (PBL) teaching method compared to the traditional teaching method.Although about 43.0% of the students mastered epidemiology knowledge well,30.4% of the students did not fully grasp the basic concepts of epidemiology. Conclusions The traditional teaching mode is not completely applicable to epidemiology teaching for MBBS students. A more reasonable course structure and new teaching methods play important roles in making up the deficiencies of traditional teaching.

    Objective To understand the influencing factors of post competency of public health practitioners in Xinjiang and provide scientific basis for the training of public health talents in Xinjiang Medical College. Methods Questionnaires were distributed to 450 public health practitioners in 8 regions medical institutions(CDC, MCH and occupational disease hospitals, etc) in Xinjiang using stratified cluster sampling. The competency model of the collected questionnaire data is established and the influencing factors are explored. Results The survey results of 396 valid questionnaires show that the public health practitioners in Xinjiang have the characteristics of female [64.4%(255/396)], less than 40 years old [57.1%(226/396)], more middle and senior professional titles [58.3%(231/396)], and factor analysis is carried out on the six competency main factor scores of the subjects with different characteristics in Xinjiang. The professional titles, working hours , two factors have influence on the post competence (F=3.953, F=3.685, F=4.773, P<0.05). Conclusions The influencing factors of the post competency of Xinjiang public health practitioners obtained by this research are in line with the regional and economic characteristics of Xinjiang, and provide the basis and reference for the undergraduate and postgraduate education and training, job recruitment and post graduation education of public health major in medical colleges and universities.

    The practice and enlightenment of research ability training for psychiatry residency in North America

    Research training is important for the development of clinical competency of psychiatrists and psychiatry. This paper introduces the training experience of research capacity of psychiatrists in North America, such as reading report meeting, scientific research theory training, participation in scientific research projects, writing of funds application and papers, academic report, and analyzes the enlightenment to the training of research capacity of psychiatrists in China. To improve the policies and measures for the training of the scientific research capacity of psychiatrists, such as strengthening the requirements for scientific research training, improving the allocation of teachers, ensuring the time of scientific research training, making the curriculum of research training, making the incentive policies for scientific research participation, and participating in research practice, in addition to enriching the training methods and contents of scientific research capacity of psychiatrists.
