Abstract: Objective To construct a systematic and practical competency model for clinical teachers in standardized training of residents. Methods A questionnaire survey was conducted among 559 clinical teachers who received a competency oriented teachers' training course at Peking University First Hospital from 2017 to 2019. A training model was developed based on the common factors extracted by exploratory factor analysis and principal component analysis and combination with expert discussion. Results The Cronbach's α coefficient of the questionnaire is 0.939. The competency model of resident standardized training teachers includes six dimensions: comprehensive ability, teamwork, empathy, professional quality, professional capacity and personality characteristics with a total of 35 terms. Conclusions The competency model of resident standardized training teachers is helpful to train and select teachers.
