Abstract: International collaboration in education is not only an important approach to promote globalization of higher education but also an effective school running mode to cultivate students' global vision and competitiveness. The joint undergraduate medical education program established by Shanghai Jiao Tong University and the University of Ottawa pivots on the demand for globalization of first-class medical schools and cultivating medical talents with an international horizon. In terms of management mechanism, curriculum system, faculty development, quality control, etc, a series of teaching reforms have been carried out for the five-year undergraduate medical education program. The Program built a “1+4” education model that followed the state-of-the-art educational concepts and approaches in the world and may provide reference for the globalization reformation of clinical medical education.
