Establishment and application of competency oriented training model in emergency resident training of general surgery

Abstract: The competency oriented training mode at emergency department of general surgery was established in the Third Hospital of Peking University, which covers 54 residents and includes pre-job training, on-the-job training and case analysis for residents, theoretical and emergency practical skills training based on clinical knowledge, standardized treatment process and doctor-patient communication. Pre- and post- training evaluations of the trainees were performed. The results showed that the training system effectively improved the competency of residents in general surgery emergency and ensured the safety of patients.
