Abstract: As a special and important social resource, alumni plays an important role in the development of a university. With the continuous expansion of alumni, it is of great practical significance to strengthen the organization of alumni association. Based on the experiences collected from university alumni associations management in China, this paper analyzes the positive role played by the alumni in the development and construction of alma mater and the problems existing in the current management work. The paper also discusses different approaches for the management and functioning of alumni associations. The conclusion points out that through increasing human resources and financial input for the alumni association, building more communication pathways to promote consistent relationship between the university and its alumni, strengthening information feedback to improve service quality, optimizing internal quality control and external supervision, the service effectiveness of the alumni association will be improved and the connection of the university and its alumni will be strengthened, so to make contributions to the development of theuniversities.
