Abstract: Objective To explore the effect of pain training on pain management knowledge, attitude and behavior of clinical nurses. Methods The data of 55 nurses before and after pain training in Beijing grade A tertiary hospital were collected by using “Pain Knowledge and Attitude Questionnaire (KASRP)” with self-controlled design to evaluate the effect of clinical nurses' pain assessment pain management knowledge and attitude. Results The median of pain management knowledge and attitude of nurses before the training was [20(18,24)] and only 25.5% (14/55) of the total nurses passed the training. The median was [22(21,25)]. The number of passers-by rose from 14 to 26, accounting for 47.3% (26/55) of the total number of trainees. The difference was statistically significant before and after training (P<0.001). The scores of each dimension of the pain knowledge and belief questionnaire before and after training were statistically significant (all P<0.001) except for the dimension of “comprehensive drug use”. Conclusions The implementation of pain training has a positive effect on improving the knowledge level and attitude of clinical nurses. In the future, comprehensive pain training should be carried out according to the specialty characteristics of different departments to further strengthen the pain knowledge, skills and attitude of clinical nursing staff, so as to improve the quality of nursing.
