Analysis of the situation of surgical trainees' operation participation in the residency standardized training

Abstract: Objective To analyze the situation of surgical trainees' operation participation during the rotation.Methods By the operating data management system, a retrospective analysis on surgery residents in Shanghai First People's Hospital from 2012 to 2015 was conducted.Results It revealed that the monthly average operation volume of surgery residents was [18.57(14.00,26.80)]. With different education background, average operation volume from more to less followed by undergraduate education, master's degree, doctoral degree; with different professional context, from more to less followed by neurosurgery, urinary surgery, plastic surgery,general surgery, orthopedics and thoracic-cardiac surgery.Conclusions The surgery residents in Shanghai First People's Hospital have met the requirements of Shanghai residence standardized training. However, the constitution of surgery still needs to be perfected.
