English for specific purposes curriculum design and implementation for medical postgraduates in the Naval Medical University

Abstract: English for specific purposes(ESP) course has a clearly-defined education purpose and focuses on training and developing students' capability of extensive communication with English. Based on the characteristics of ESP course and its teaching principles, this paper introduces the components and teaching practice of ESP curriculum for graduates in the Naval Medical University, and puts forward suggestions for improving ESP course design for medical education in the future, including the establishment of curriculum and ESP modules based on needs, multi-disciplinary integration, mobile media support and optimal allocation of teacher resources.
