A meta-analysis of evaluation of problem-based learning combined with WeChat platform in neurology teaching

Abstract: Objective Systematic evaluation of the teaching effectiveness and satisfaction of WeChat platform combined with problem-based learning(PBL)method in neurology teaching. Methods Retrieve research on the comparison of the effectiveness of WeChat platform combined with PBL method and traditional teaching methods in neurology teaching from CNKI, VIP database, and Wanfang. The search keywords were ″Neurology″ and ″WeChat″ or ″Micro Course″, ″PBL″ and ″Teaching″. The research type was experimental control study, and the search time was from database establishment to July 31, 2022. Used Meta analysis to evaluate teaching effectiveness. Results A total of 17 studies and 934 participants were included. The literature quality score was 4~7 points. The results manifested that WeChat platform combined with PBL method was superior to traditional method on aspects of theoretical knowledge (95% CI=4.27~7.14,P<0.001), clinical skill (95% CI=3.47~7.53,P<0.001) and participants satisfaction (95% CI = 1.03~1.60,P=0.030) in neurology teaching. Conclusions WeChat platform combined with PBL method had a good effect and was worthy of further promotion in neurology teaching.
