A study on the current status of rural doctors in Huaihua and Jishou in Hunan province

Abstract: Objective To understand the basic situation and service satisfaction of rural doctors in two cities of Huaihua and Jishou in Hunan province.Methods A questionnaire survey was conducted among 428 rural doctors from 152 townships (villages) in two cities of Huaihua and Jishou.Results The rural doctor's education situation: Secondary school education accounted for 61.7%(264/428). There are rural doctor card, but no medical education accounted for23.8%(102/428). 27.3%(117/428) of doctors (assistants) were licensed by doctors, 72.7%(311/428) of which were rural doctors. Age over 60 years old accounted for17.5%(75/428). As a doctor occupation 11 years to 30 years accounted for63.3%(271/428), accounted for more than 30 years of practice17.8%(76/428). Monthly income of 1000 yuan to 3000 yuan accounted for 58.9%(252/428), more than 4000 yuan accounted for only 5.4%(23/428). More than 3 training sessions each year accounted for 10.8%(46/428), and 13.1%(56/428) of those who did not participate in training accounted for. Through convenient sampling survey, villagers are satisfied with the service provided by rural doctors. The highest satisfaction is the service attitude, while the lowest satisfaction is the disease solution.Conclusions The clinical capacity of rural doctors in Huaihua and Jishou is higher than that required by the state. It is suggested that the government should strengthen the training of rural doctors and improve their practical ability.
