The relationship between humanistic caring ability and perception of caring environment in hospital of undergraduate nursing students undergoing clinical practice

Abstract: Objective To explore the relationship between humanistic caring ability and perception of caring environment in hospital of undergraduate nursing students undergoing clinical practice, and to provide reference for educators to improve caring environment in hospital and students' humanistic caring ability.Methods A total of 270 undergraduate nursing students undergoing clinical practice were investigated using Humanistic Caring Ability Scale and Perception of Hospital Caring Environment Scale for Nursing Undergraduates.Results The mean scores of students' humanistic caring ability and perception of caring environment in hospital were (3.97±0.37) and (3.97±0.49), respectively. The two variables were positively correlated (r=0.913, P<0.01).Conclusions It suggested that creating an effective caring environment in hospital for clinical practice may improve the nursing students' humanistic caring ability.
