Abstract: Critical care medicine has played a major role in saving critically ill patients since the COVID-19 pandemic, which also highlighted the relative lack of domestic critical care medical talents. However, due to the fact that critical care medicine involves large amounts of physiology and pathophysiology knowledge, it is often abstract and obscure, which sometimes discourages the enthusiastic learners. Therefore, in order to improve the quality of critical care medicine education and teaching, our team applied the scaffolding teaching to the teaching of interns, used a variety of different types of instructional scaffolding to build a knowledge system of critical care medicine for students layer by layer, and explored education and teaching methods suitable for the cultivation of critical care medical talents. The outcome of teaching practice has proved that scaffolding strategy in the critical care medicine education and teaching can stimulate students' learning enthusiasm and improve the teaching effect, which is worthy of promotion.
