The SEGUE Framework for accessing communication skills of residents

Abstract: Objective To explore the effect of doctor-patient communication course on improvement of doctor-patient communication ability of residents.Methods Totally 181residents were chosen as the research object in this self-control study in Peking University Third Hospital, SEGUE framework and questionnaire survey were used to conduct exploratory research at the end of the training of doctor-patient communication on curriculum.Results After the doctor-patient communication skills training, residents in the communication start, information collection, information giving, understand patient and at the end of the interrogation of five modules ability were improved, and the differences are statistically significant (P<0.001). The residents’ satisfaction with the teaching teachers, teaching hours, teaching methods and teaching content was higher.Conclusions In the future, there is need improving the communication start and information collection, enhancing residents’ doctor-patient communication ability and building a harmonious relationship between doctors and patients.
