Integration of epidemiology and biostatistics for Master of Public Health in China and abroad

Abstract: The Master of Public Health (MPH) degree aims to cultivate high-level public health professionals with solid theoretical foundation, broad professional knowledge, and advanced technical skills. In the training of MPH students, high-level schools of public health have integrated the teaching of epidemiology and biostatistics. This article reviews the current status of epidemiology and biostatistics teaching as well as the integrated-curriculum for MPH students in representative schools of public health in China and abroad. The authors further put forward suggestions for integrated teaching in schools of public health in China, including establishing methodology modules of epidemiology and biostatistics, advancing integration of epidemiology and biostatistics, and focusing on capacity building of teachers.
