Post-graduate education of dermatopathologist in the United States and it's enlightenment

Abstract: Dermatopathology is an important branch of pathology andit's of great significance to improve the teaching quality in post-graduate education of dermatopathologist. The post-graduate dermatopathologist education in American has developed over the years characterized by clear goals, multiple teaching methods and specific evaluation tools and thus constructed a set of scientific, standardized and efficient dermatopathology training system. This article introduces the model of post-graduate education for dermatopathologist in the United States, and provide a valuable reference to the development of post-graduate dermatopathologist education as an independent component of pathologist training in China. It is suggested to expand the content of dermatopathology in the pathology resident training program, and increase the weight of importance of dermatopathology in the capacity assessment of pathology resident and integrate traditional teaching slides with digital slides during training. It is important to facilitate cooperation between dermatologists and pathologists in the field of residents’ training by academic organizations too.
