Abstract: How to encourage clinicians to join clinical teaching is an important issue in the new affiliated hospitals of college or university. Taking Beijing Tsinghua Changgeng Hospital Affiliated to Tsinghua University as an example, here we reported the development of a teaching incentive mechanism which merges teaching performance of clinicians into their payment package of routine salary. In this system, the payment to teaching performance is calculated delicately based on educator post and standardized teaching hours and then the education payment is merged into their routine salary counting. This system covering routine clinical performance and medical education simultaneously has been proved to be an effective encouraging and fair mechanism to pay clinicians who make contribution to clinical training of medical students individually as well as the member of a teaching team in the hospitals.
