医学教育中学术英语词汇教学需求与难点分析

Needs and difficulty analyses in English for academic purposes vocabulary teaching

摘要: 目的 学术英语(English for academic purposes,EAP)是医学生从事学术交流必备的工具,EAP教学也成为医学教育的重要组成部分。为了提高EAP教学效果,首先需要明确EAP词汇教学的学习者需求和教学难点。本研究从实证角度出发,探索医学英语EAP词汇教学需求和难点。方法 专门用途英语(English for specific purposes,ESP)的基本理论提供了需求分析和难点分析的研究方法。研究过程中对50名通过大学英语六级考试的临床医学专业三年级学生进行了问卷调查、对比测验和个别访谈,并进行了统计学分析。结果 问卷、访谈和测试结果均显示,经过EAP课程学习,学生对半技术性词汇和技术性半术语的需求和难度感知显著提高,表明这两类词是学习的难点。结论 半技术性词汇和技术性半术语是EAP词汇教学的主要需求和难点,教学中应当采用相应教学策略,针对性地增加讲解和训练,从而改善教学效果,提高医学生的国际学术交流能力。

Abstract: Objective English for Academic Purposes (EAP) has become an essential tool for medical students. The key to successful EAP teaching is to identify students' needs and difficulties in learning EAP vocabulary. The current study aimed to determine these needs and difficulties using an experimental approach.Methods The needs and difficulties were analyzed by the basic principles and methods of English for Specific Purposes (ESP), including surveys, interviews and tests. A total of 50 students who specialize in clinical medicine and have passed CET-6 were selected as the subjects.Results Questionnaires, interviews and tests revealed that sub-technical words and semi-terms comprise the needs and difficulties of students.Conclusions Teachers should spend more time in training these two types of words and modulate their approaches accordingly. These findings may help improve the effect of EAP teaching, thus benefiting medical students in international academic exchanges.
