Current situation of chief residency training in internal medicine in Peking University Health Science Center

Abstract: Chief residency is a critical step towards the attending in internal medicine. Chief residents play crucial roles in clinical, teaching and administration in internal medicine residency programs. The implement details of chief resident training system in Peking University Health Science Center were elaborated in this article. The necessity, responsibility, and competencies of chief residents were surveyed among chiefs on duty and among the clinical mentors. It was showed that the necessity of chief resident training was highly recognized, while some weakness was also identified.
