The application of peer-assisted learning in medical education

Abstract: Peer-assisted learning (PAL) is helpful to cultivate students’ Self-directed learning ability and teaching ability, improve their academic performance, improve communication skills and effective control of teaching cost, and it is widely used in medical education teaching field. This paper introduces the definition, characteristics, model design, and application of PAL, and also analyzes the advantages and disadvantages of a PAL, and prospects its application prospects in order to provide a reference for PAL teaching in higher medical colleges and universities in China.
