Research hotspots and trend in scientific research training of medical graduates for professional degree in China

Abstract: Objective To discuss the hotspots and development trends in scientific research ability cultivation of medical graduates for professional degree in China. Methods Based on China National Knowledge Infrastructure, Wanfang Data, and VIP Database for Chinese Technical Periodicals, a search was conducted from the establishment of the database until May 11, 2023. Research literature on the cultivation of scientific research capabilities of medical graduates for professional degree in China was retrieved, and bibliometric analysis was conducted on the number of annual publications, distribution of publications, funding support, keywords, etc. The visualized knowledge maps were drawn by CiteSpace. Results This study included a total of 633 Chinese literature articles, published in 194 academic journals. The earliest research appeared in 2000, and the overall amount of literature published showed an upward trend. Of the 633 articles, 344(54.34%) received funding support. The research topic focused on research and clinical ability enhancement, mentorship, dual-track integration, training mode reform, and training quality. The recent keyword with the strongest citation bursts is “dual-track integration”. Conclusions The research on the cultivation of scientific research ability of graduate students majoring in clinical medicine in China has attracted more and more attention among scholars. The research hotpots are the topics of research and clinical ability enhancement, mentorship, dual-track integration, training mode reform, and training quality. Recently, the training mode of ″dual-track integration″ has generated an increasing amount of interests, which needs further exploration in the future.
