Peer instruction and its enlightenment to medical education

Abstract: Peer instruction(PI) has been shown to stimulate students' comprehension of the abstract concepts improve, improves their capacity to resolve problems. It is widely used in various subjects. This paper introduces the theoretical basis and steps of PI, and discusses the key steps of PI in terms of the seating arrangements, the design of tests, the application of classroom response system, the impact of feedback on learning effects, independent thinking before discussion, and the guiding function of teachers, in order to provide a reference for the education and reformation in medical education institutes in China.
