Abstract: In order to better implement the fundamental task of upholding morality and cultivating people, it is of far-reaching significance to integrate political and virtuous education into the surgical curriculum. In this article, 159 students of ″5+3″ clinical medicine major in grade 2019 and 8-year clinical medicine major of Zhejiang University who were rotating in surgery department of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine were selected. This research refines the elements of education as ″five loves and six directions″, fully excavates the materials of moral education to permeate the professional courses of surgery, and forms a “three-whole” (whole staff, whole process and whole course) education teaching mode. Meanwhile, ″three-dimensional integration″ spiral mechanism promotes curriculum feedback. The results showed that, among 159 students, there were 150(94.3%), 151(95.0%), 146(91.8%), 156(98.1%) and 152(95.6%) students who thought that integration of political and virtuous awareness education into surgical courses could promote the concept of humanistic care, the sense of responsibility of doctors, professional identity, patriotism, understanding of medical history and clinical innovation, respectively. Therefore, political and virtuous awareness education in surgery is conducive to the spiritual formation of medical students, and improves course satisfaction and guarantees the teaching quality.
