Abstract: Experimental teaching is an important part of orthodontic teaching. Traditionally, it is usually conducted by face-to-face teaching. Division of orthodontics in the School of Stomatology, Nanjing Medical University integrated online and offline learning resources. Taken five-year and eight-year program students enrolled in 2018 at Nanjing Medical University as an example, a total of 108 students adopted blended teaching based on SPOC in their orthodontic experimental courses. The teaching effect was evaluated by experimental examination and questionnaire survey. The results showed that students′ experimental examination score was (88.71±7.69) points, and51(47.2%) students gained excellent scores (≥90 points). Forty three (54.4%) students believed that online teaching is more efficient than traditional teaching in experimental course. Totally 54(68.3%)students think that online teaching can improve their self-learning ability. These results showed that the blended teaching mode based on SPOC demonstrates a good effectiveness in orthodontics experimental course, which can improve students′ learning efficiency and autonomy, also puts forward higher requirements for teachers′ teaching skills and students′ capacity of independent learning.
