Abstract: Objective To explore the application effect of mentorship combined with mini-clinical evaluation exercise (Mini-CEX) in standardized residency training in ultrasound. Methods A total of 21 residents who were trained in the ultrasound department of Peking University Third Hospital from June 2018 to October 2019 were selected as the research subjects. Mentorship combined with Mini-CEX teaching method was adopted. When the training finished, the final and initial Mini-CEX scores of the residents were compared, and a questionnaire survey was conducted on the residents and 10 mentors. Paired sample t-test were used for grades analysis. Results The final and initial evaluation scores in Mini-CEX of the residents was recorded in 7 aspects that contained consultation skills, ultrasound scanning skills, ultrasound image description and reporting, diagnostic and differential diagnostic skills, communication and humanistic care skills, organizational effectiveness, overall clinical competence. The final scores of the 7 aspects were higher than the initial scores [(7.52±0.75) vs. (6.38±1.47) , (7.67±0.73)vs. (6.47±1.29) , (7.61±0.74)vs. (6.80±1.25) , (7.38±0.59) vs. (6.29±1.35) , (8.00±0.77) vs. (7.14±1.28) , (7.33±0.58) vs.(6.52±1.12) , (7.52±0.81) vs. (6.52±1.17), all P<0.05]. All residents and 9 tutors were satisfied with the teaching method. Conclusions Mentorship combined with Mini-CEX practices has practical value in training effect improvement of ultrasonic residents. It can provide a reference for the teaching reform in residents training.
