Abstract: The construction of a healthy China has an ever-increasing demand for medical talents. The provincial medical schools are the main force in the training of medical talents, but how to build their high-standard undergraduate system is a serious challenge. This article puts forward the concept of building a first-class undergraduate system with unique characteristics. Taking Guilin Medical College as an example, this article explores the constructing of a locally characterized first-class undergraduates system of provincial medical schools, including adjusting the objectives of undergraduate talent training, optimizing the discipline structure, classified training, strengthening the capacity building of faculty, and improving teaching quality as well as learning outcomes, management and undergraduate teaching resources and funding. The practice has achieved some preliminary results which may be shared by other provincial-level colleges and universities in China.
