Abstract: Early scientific research training in the frame of undergraduate tutorial system is an important component of teaching reform at military medical university. To evaluate the current situation of undergraduates' early scientific research training at the Fourth Military Medical University, four-year, five-year, and eight-year undergraduates with different majors were enrolled in an anonymous, cross-sectional, self-administered questionnaire. The aims of this survey are to analyze the major issues and influencing factors on early scientific research among military medical students, and to explore the countermeasures in this regard. The present study would provide not only insights into perceptions, attitudes and barriers towards extracurricular research, but also basis for deepening the process of education and teaching reform, enhancing the undergraduates' research ability and creative spirit, and training all -round development of high quality military medical professionals.
