The challenges and potential resolutions for faculty development in simulation-based medical education

Abstract: The simulation-based medical education plays an important role in education of healthcare providers. However, the shortage of qualified educators has inhibited proper development of simulation-based medical education in China. Variable factors contributed to this situation. In this study, problems like the shortage of qualified educators, no standard of faculty development, no adequate train the trainer course and few support from stake-holders, will be discussed. Therefore, strategies should be taken to deal with challenges like system development, arousing the enthusiasm of educators, faculty development standards, quality maintenance of educators, training of teaching assistants and equipments innovation.
