Abstract: Objective To explore the application effect of hierarchical and advanced learning guidance with diagram in cardiac ultrasound teaching for residents. Methods A trial control method was used. Using a cluster sampling method, 24 residents who rotated in the ultrasound medical department professional base of Lishui Central Hospital from September 2019 to August 2022 were selected as study subjects. They were equally divided into the experimental group and the control group using a random number table method. The residents in the experimental group used a hierarchical and advanced graphical guidance with diagram teaching, while the residents in the control group used traditional teaching. The learning effect was evaluated through the examination results of cardiac ultrasound operational skills, clinical thinking, and resident self-evaluation, and Fishers exact test and independent sample t-test were used for data analysis. Results The scores of cardiac ultrasound operational skills [(96.19±1.85)vs. (93.86±2.32)], clinical thinking [(76.61±2.61) vs. (72.01±4.25)], and autonomous learning ability [(109.16±11.03)vs. (94.94±12.54)] in the experimental group were higher than those in the control group, with statistically significant differences (all P<0.05). Conclusions Hierarchical and advanced guidance with diagram is helpful to improve resident doctors′ performance in cardiac ultrasound operational skills and clinical thinking assessment, and to enhance their autonomous learning ability.
