Present model situation of doctors’ continuing education in the western counties of Yunnan Province and some suggestions

Abstract: Objective To investigate the present continuing education model of doctors in the western counties of Yunnan Province and put forward some suggestions. Methods Questionnaires and individual interviews were conducted to doctors and local hospitals’ persons in charge as well, one year intervention in Midu County for comparison. Results The contradictions between supplies and demands were mainly showed that: inappropriate schedule, divorcing from clinical practice and lack of latest topics. The intervention comparison had a statistical significance. Conclusions Present continuing education model in the western counties of Yunnan Province requires a reform. It’s worth trying to use online authoritative resources for self-directed learning and also emphasize the effectiveness evaluation. We should meet both standardized and individual needs and pay attention to strengthening the competencies of doctors at the same time.
