An application of clinical pathway and team-based learning in teaching of cardiology during residents training

Abstract: Objective To explore the effectiveness of clinical pathway and team-based learning in the cardiovascular department during resident training.Methods 40 internal medicine residents in First Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University were applied with two different teaching methods.clinical pathway and team-based learning were used in the intervention group, while the traditional teaching method was applied in the control group.Data were collected by means of a questionnaire and a clinical test.Results Compared with the control group,the intervention group did better in paper test on theories and clinical skills test(t=4.485,P<0.05).The questionnaire results showed that the intervention group had a strong initiative and independent learning ability, and mastered well of the clinical skills.Conclusions The integrated application of CP and TBL method can be a valuable strategy.
