Application of group assessment in the teaching of pediatric nursing of nursing students in secondary vocational schools

Abstract: Objective To explore the effect of group assessment under the condition of limited teachers in secondary vocational schools.Methods 498 nursing students from 2012 grade in a secondary vocational school were selected as the subjects. In the pediatric nursing course skills assessment, the content of the examination was contextualized and evaluated by group method. The results included nursing skills and observation, review of two aspects of the score, which accounted for 70% of the nursing operations, observation points accounted for 30%. Compare the time spent and the number of teachers between group test and traditional way. At the same time, investigation was made in the experimental group with the self-made questionnaire.Results Group assessment can reduce the amount of teachers and time, 77.1%(374/485)students considered group assessment can promote introspection and 86.8%(421/485)students thought it can promote them join team action.Conclusions Group assessment can be used as one of the ways to promote and apply the evaluation of nursing operation in technical secondary schools, it is an efficient assessment in secondary vocational schools which are resource shortage.
