Abstract: Artificial intelligence (AI) is being gradually integrated into general practice education, providing new opportunities for innovation in teaching models and reform of talent training. Relevant studies from both domestic and international sources were systematically reviewed, and the current status of AI applications in general practice education was summarized, including the use of AI-enabled teaching tools and educational practices across different training pathways. In addition, several challenges in the integration of AI into general practice education were identified, including potential weakening of learners′ critical thinking abilities, insufficient standards and regulations, and risks related to data privacy and ethics. To address these issues, a stratified and progressive AI competency training system was proposed, along with improved teaching standards and multidimensional assessment systems, as well as strengthened education on data security and AI ethics, with the aim of informing the high-quality development of general practice education in China.
