    2019, 39 (10):  721-725.  DOI: 10.3760/cma.j.issn.1673-677X.2019.10.001
    Abstract ( 46 )   PDF (788KB) ( 34 )
Objective To evaluate the implementation subjects, process and results of accreditation of the Chinese medical education (undergraduate),so as to put forward suggestions for implementation. Methods The paper adopts the method of questionnaire survey based on the framework of the study on the meta-evaluation index system of accreditation for the Chinese medical education projects from July 2018 to April 2019.The questions with low scores in the questionnaire were supplemented with expert interviews. Results The accreditation of the Chinese medical education (undergraduate) evaluation sheet covers five dimensions as follows:practicability, feasibility, validity, accuracy, and the assessment of accountability, also includes 57 items which scores are higher than 4.00 in the Richter magnitude scale, the objects of study carry out the higher evaluation in general, but they think the process of accreditation still have several questions,in the aspect of strengthening the objectivity of accreditation, enhancing the homogeneity of experts training, formulating reasonable planning accreditation schedule, paying attention to continuous improvement of colleges and universities, and reinforcing the re-evaluation of the accreditation of the Chinese medical education still need further improvement. Conclusions By the way of accreditation,it is concluded that the development of the accreditation of the Chinese medical education is generally good in five dimensions of practicality, feasibility, legitimacy, accuracy and evaluation and accountability. It can be regarded as a reasonable mode to guarantee the quality of medical education currently. However, there are still some weakness in the process of accreditation, such as the lack of quantitative evaluation indicators, insufficient attention to the continuous improvement of colleges and universities, and inter-group differences in expert evaluation.

    Abstract ( 67 )   PDF (935KB) ( 32 )
The United States and China have different disciplinary structure and R&D investment and post-doctoral funding systems.Postdocs play an important role in scientific research output. In order to understand the development status of post-doctoral development in China and the United States, especially the problems in post-doctoral training, this study compares the number of postdocs,R&D expenditure, quality and quality of research papers, and post-doctoral disciplinary structure between China and the United States to analyzes. The study found that the American R&D investment in the past 20 years and its ratio to GDP has stabilized, and the number of papers published in high-quality journals represented by Nature and Science has also stabilized, while both of them in China is still in a period of rapid growth.American medical postdocs who mainly study in clinical medicine account for 10.9%(1 980/18 244) of the total number of postdocs, while the proportion of Chinese medical postdocs is about 29.3%(18 975/64 712),mainly in clinical medicine. In this article, the insufficient of funding and quality of innovation training were discussed during the post-doctoral training process in China. In order to promote the development of medical postdocs,it was suggeste to improve medical postdoctoral funding and research environment and to optimize the layout of postdoctoral disciplines for promoting the development of China human resources in research emerging.

    Abstract ( 68 )   PDF (1910KB) ( 33 )
Objective To explore the relationship between the personnel quantity structure and medical college rankings in America and get inspirations. The personnel quantity structure referred to structures of both students and teachers and clinical teachers and teachers in basic medicine. Methods The personnel data released by Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) and the college rankings released by Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) were combined for analysis.Golden section was used to stratify the rankings. Results Both the quantity of students and total teachers in different rankings showed no significant difference, while difference is significant in clinical teachers and teachers in basic medicine. The median ratio of top 500 colleges student-teacher was 0.52∶1.The lower it was,the higher the ranking tended to be.The median ratio of the number of clinical teachers to basic medical ones was 7.68∶1.The higher the ratio was,the higher the ranking tended to be.Conclusions Medical education in America showed the leading position of the world. The personnel structure could be used for references in the development of Chinese medical education.China can try to give key support to high level medical colleges to promote the development of the whole medical field.Attention should be paid to the quantity of teachers to ensure the quality of medical elite status. When it comes to clinical-basic ratio, historical and realistic conditions of colleges should be combined.

    Abstract ( 45 )   PDF (793KB) ( 39 )
The goal of professional degree postgraduate in clinical medicine training is to cultivate high-level medical talents with strong clinical practice ability and research capacity. However, the current training mode often leads to the embarrassing situation of graduate students' lack of research capacity.Professional degree postgraduates will rotate clinical departments with clinical standardization trainees for 33 months in 36 months according to the training program in Tongji Medical College,Huazhong University of Science and Technology. The intensive clinical work has brought great challenges to how to train and improve the research capacity of graduate students with professional degrees. In this paper,we summarize the problems highlighted in the training mode of professional degree postgraduates, and some effective attempts we have made to solve the difficulties in training postgraduates' research capacity. For example, using journal club to train students' logical thinking ability in research;guiding postgraduates to carry out research based on clinical needs;compiling the textbook Medical Section of Experimental Course for Professional Degree Postgraduates and adding the optional course. These attempts not only do not occupy the students' clinical working time, but also greatly improve their research capacity and achieve the desired results.

    Abstract ( 36 )   PDF (787KB) ( 20 )
Against the background of the call for the transition from English for general purpose (EGP) to English for academic purpose (EAP) by Shanghai Education Commission since 2013,the Naval Medical University has launched a series of courses of medical English for general academic purpose (EGAP) for the 1st-year and 2nd-year students, with reading course at its core.Due to their deficiency of medical knowledge and ignorance of EAP,students find it difficult to understand EAP articles in medical contexts. Therefore,in order to improve medical students' reading proficiency for medical EAP articles,we applied schema theory to teaching practice, and tried to activate, enrich, and consolidate their schema through form schema and content schema, and achieved considerable positive effects of teaching.
