Practice and thinking on emergency medical rescue training management traffic accidents in expressway of Hubei province

Abstract

Objective Review the training of emergency medical rescue for expressways traffic accidents victims in Hubei province, and to develop management and improving strategies. Methods Questionnaires, telephone calls and field surveys were used to analyze training needs, training outcomes and problems in training management. Results The top two training needs were trauma emergency management and cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Most of the trainees thought that retraining was necessary. The trainees' cognitive rate of masked symptoms after training was higher, and the difference were statistically significant, such as pale or cyanosis [88.5%(123/139) vs 44.6%(62/139)], shortness of breath [51.8%(72/139) vs 38.8%(54/139)], chest or abdominal pain [85.6%(119/139) vs 33.1%(46/139)], all P<0.05. Only 4.7% (63/1341) of the traffic policeman in this province received training of accident rescue. There were problems such as lack of training and continuing education in some highway medical ambulance stations. Conclusions Defining learning needs is conducive to ensuring the quality training and network retraining mode deserves to be explored. The training strengthened the awareness of the trainees' first aid, inspite of the fact that emergency medical rescue skills need to be improved. It is necessary to expand the scope of the trainees, carry out grading and classification training. Innovation of training methods is an important means to improve the outcomes of training.
