Objective To implement and evaluate clinical practice of general practice on clinical medicine specialty undergraduate in clinical teaching hospital.Methods 144 undergraduates of clinical medicine specialty in China medical university randomly divided into experimental group (72 undergraduates) and the control group (72 undergraduates). The experimental group took part in graduation practice in general practice department in the first affiliated hospital of China Medical University ward for a week, while the control group took part in graduation practice in other medicine department ward in the first affiliated hospital of China Medical University ward for a week. The examination, questionnaire and interviewing method were used to evaluate the teaching effectiveness. SPSS 11.5 was used for statistical analysis.Results The results of the experimental and satisfaction did not show statistically significant difference between the experimental group and the control group (P>0.05). In the result of questionnaire survey, the awareness of the experimental group about GP system, department of general practice in tertiary hospital, referral system between community and large hospital, sequential service of general practitioner and coordination service of general practitioner was better than that of the control group (P<0.05). The possibility of the experimental group in the future working in general practice is significantly higher than that of the control group (P<0.05).Conclusions Graduation practice of general practice in clinical teaching hospital perfected the teaching system in general practice, increased the awareness of general medicine and the possibility of the students in the future working in general practice, and is of practical significance to the development of general medicine and the establishment of the GP system.
