In order to further optimize talent training model and make medical student better form professional identification, Qiqihar Medical University studied the motivation of medical students major choice before entrance. Through open-ended questionnaire asking students why they choose medicine, a survey was conducted on motivation of major choice for 1207 students. Based on grounded theory, the software named CAQDAS Nvivo11 was used to conduct Level 3 code analysis. Through the study, it was found that motivation models of medical student major choice can mainly be divided into five types: blind choice model, utilitarian model, obedience model, hobby model and self-actualization model.Through analysis for different motivations, the university will conduct particular education for different students, helping them transform motivation into learning power. Meanwhile, the research result can provide theoretical foundation for higher medical education reform.
