Abstract

Objective To visualize the English literature of medical students' humanities education in 1998-2018, and to explore the core research and hot-spot of medical students' humanities education.Methods Citespace was used to conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis of the research team, high-impact authors and high-impact journals of the medical science and humanities education in the Web of Science database.Results The United States is a country with the largest number of publications, accounting for 41.4%(516/1246) of the total number of publications in 20 years; the University of Toronto, Canada is the top one in terms of paper publication, up to 26; Fred Hafferty is the author with the highest number of articles cited, 196 times; Academic Medicine is the most cited journal, with a frequency of 841.Conclusions The research hotspots of medical students' humanities education in the past 20 years mainly include the basic connotation of medical humanities education, the understanding of the importance of medical students' humanities education, the optimization of humanities curriculum structure, and the establishment of professional medical humanities faculty.
