The development of general-practice based primary health care has been the focus of the current Chinese health care reform. As the major source of cultivating general practitioners, medical education should have appropriate ranking and evaluation mechanism as guidance. This paper illustrates the importance of primary health care in health care reform in the United States, introduces the primary health care ranking mechanism in medical education evaluation, and explores the implications to the reform of medical education evaluation in China.
