Abstract

Forensic pathology specimens play a vital role in the teaching of forensic pathology. Traditional manual modeling has the shortcomings of complex production process, time-consuming, and high technical requirements, while laser scanning is difficult to promote because it is expensive and difficult to popularize in forensic pathological dissection sites. We explore ways to produce 3D digital specimens of forensic pathology using Agisoft PhotoScan software that constructs three-dimensional digital models based on two-dimensional images. When the use of successful 3D digital specimens was applied for teaching forensic science students, they generally believe that the specimens produced by this method can not only achieve the clarity of the general specimens compared with the traditional specimens, but also be able to learn anytime and anywhere, and the learning space becomes free and open. In short, the use of Agisoft PhotoScan software can be used to make digital specimens in an easy and realistic way, and the teaching effect is good. Although the use of the software to make digital specimens still has the shortcomings of modeling fresh specimens and the lack of three-dimensional sense after modeling small specimens, it is worth promoting in the production of 3D digital specimens of most organs such as heart, brain, lung, liver, kidney and other organs after short-term fixation.
