Abstract

The United States is the birthplace of modern family medicine, and it is a world leader in the construction of the family medicine education system and the standardized training of family residents. The current training program of general practitioner (GP) in China is non-homogeneous, and outpatient training is inadequate. In order to orient the training of GP and to improve the quality of GP standardized training in China, this study compares the GP training in University of California, San Diego(UCSD ) with that in the Department of Family Medicine and the Department of General Medicine of Peking University Health Science Center, focusing on the differences in outpatient training , such as the ratio of outpatient rotation to the total rotation time and the independent consultation .The article also reviewed relevant literatures and discussed the enlightenment of the American family medicine outpatient training for GP residents training in China.
