Abstract: Objective To analysis the problems of national clinical skills competition of medical undergraduates. Methods Summarize the participation of the competitions, and analyzes the questionnaires for teachers and students from 110 medical colleges nationwide. Results The results show that 134 colleges have participated in the past seven competitions. About 115 colleges participated in the competition each year.880 questionnaires for 110 colleges were delivered and 752 valid responses were received. Teachers and students think that the main problem of the competition is “it costs a lot of teachers, money and property”, “only a few students profit by it”,and “the results can not reflect the true level of colleges”, and so on. The satisfaction of the difficulty and breadth of the questions (5-point Likert scale) in the competition is from 3.5 to 4.0. The main problem is wide range of assessment, high difficulty and more quantity of questions. Conclusions The national clinical skill competition is widely accepted in China. It achieves the purpose of promoting the development of clinical practical education. But it also has some problems. To make clear the mission, comprehensively evaluates its function and improve proposition quality are the high points.
