兰安生(1890-1962)是北京协和医学院公共卫生教育的开创者,在任教期间创建了公共卫生系,编写了公共卫生教科书,推动了近代中国城乡公共卫生的实践两大范例——北平第一卫生事务所和河北定县农村卫生实验区的建立与发展。本文简要回顾了兰安生的生平事迹,介绍了1930年中文版兰安生《公共卫生学》的主要内容,论述了他对近代早期北京协和医学院公共卫生教育实践的历史性贡献。
John Black Grant (1890–1962) was the founder of public health education in Peking Union Medical College and head of the Department of Hygiene and Public Health. He wrote the first textbook on public health for the college and contributed to the establishment and development of the Health Station of the First Inner Ward, Peiping and Ting Hsien Experimental Project of Rural Health Service. This article brings his accomplishments in Peking Union Medical College's public health education and practice in the early 1900's to the attention of the contemporary public.
